The Rise of Mark Hamill

Ever since 'The Force Awakens,' which without a doubt an absolute hit, there's one person who has benefited from this renewed interest in the saga, that person being the great Mark Hamill. And in my personal opinion it is well overdue. He's a fabulous actor, who for awhile was overshadowed by Harrison Ford's action-adventure career. Not to throw any shade at Mr. Ford, he's also a wonderful actor, but Mark was overshadowed, and at a point, unfortunately type-casted, until he shined with his voice-acting chops as The Joker in the much beloved 90's cartoon, Batman: The Animated Series.  From then on, he's been working with his talented voice doing many memorable voice overs, but once The Force Awakened, it's like a renewed interest in Mark, as more than a voice-actor has put him back into the spotlight. Which I am absolutely thrilled as a long time fan of Mr. Hamill (and yes, Luke forever will be my MCM) it brings me joy seeing him more constantly...

Let's not get Carried away.

While rummaging around the internet, as one does, I found a really distressing rumor/idea/proposal of a petition to ask Meryl Streep to be General Leia in the upcoming Star Wars installment. Yup, if you haven't heard this news by now, um, where have you been living?! But in all seriousness, SAY WHAT?! Whomever thought this was a good idea, NEEDS TO STOP. Don't get me wrong, I love Meryl Streep just like the next person. I think she's a wonderful actress who can either play loving mothers, or downright b*tches. And this has NOTHING to do with her quality of work, or as a personal friend of the late Carrie Fisher, but SERIOUSLY?! Pinterest Ok, we get it, she played a 'version' of Carrie Fisher in 'Postcards from the Edge'  but how does this qualify her to don the magnificent dresses and iconic status of General Leia Organa Solo?! In what universe? Was the person who came up with this idea, drunk at the time? Princess/General Leia is an icon...

Star Wars 'fans' vs. The Last Jedi.

Hey, I'm back!! Sorry it took me a while to write an entry but, I've been working like a maniac. Alright, so I leave the fandom for a bit (as in, writing) and what do I come back with? That the Star Wars fandom is all getting their panties in a twist because,  Last Jedi , according to some pissed off fan boys, did not meet their expectations/fan theories. Well, Hellooo, they're called 'fan theories' because exactly that, they are theories that fans make according to their knowledge and wish full thinking of what they would like to see happen. But neither does Rian Johnson, Disney or LucasFilm are in any way obligated to oblige ANY  of you. And yes, if you think I'm sounding a bit petty, it is because probably I am. But not as petty as these so-called 'fans' who are basically dissecting every single thing from the film in rage that it didn't, somehow, meet their stinkin' standards.  First of, Disney didn't tap any of you to continue on...

In Loving Memory to a Princess in A Galaxy Far Far Away.

In a world full of Princesses needing to be rescued by their Knight in Shinning Armor, Princess Leia taught many little girls that you can rescue yourself. Today, the world all ovet mourns the loss of a true icon, cross-generational, inspiring human being and incredible actress, Carrie Fisher. Princess Leia was different, strong-willed, resourceful, intelligent, brilliant diplomat, fearless. As a little girl I wanted to be just like her, because she resembled my own characteristics. I didn't want to be rescued, I wanted to write my own happy ending, I wanted to be different. And in front of me, was this character who embodied everything I hoped to be when I would grow up. Carrie as an actress was unconventiaonal, inspiring because she was human, not a plastic, un-realistic version of a person, she was real with flaws and many more qualities. There are no words to sufficiently describe how much she meant to me and how deeply I am feeling her passing. To her family, loved o...

The Force is Strong with this One.

The Holiday season for most is actually over and while we had to deal with our crazy horde of relatives, I do hope that many of you spent the days with great food and company. So, where have I bloody been?!? Well, real quick to recap, I started a new part-time job near my new abode, so unfortunately it has been a bit hectic around my household. Not to mention we were trying to get ready for the holidays. Either way, I am back!! For the most part we can collectively agree that 2016 has just been a $&1t year.  From start til now, there have been very few joyous moments throughout. Except, a couple of weeks ago with the premier of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story . 🤗🤗 What's not to like about this film?! ( Unless you have no soul) it is absolutely fantastic. From start to finish, I was holding on to my breath ( miraculously, I didn't 💀). Source: wikipedia.com Not only does it re-validates this franchise (cinematically speaking) but it adds so mu...

In My Own Words: Marvel Princess Leia

Hello kiddies, so far I hope you guys are having a good work week, & 'Never Give up, never surrender', the weekend is almost upon us!! 😅😄 Anywhoo, sorry that I've been a bit away from blogging, but since I have been cleared to go back to work, on light duty, I've been again running around (figuratively of course) like a chicken with its head cut off. So, please bare with me, I will try not to neglect you guys as much as I did, but I will try to at least post two per week. Ok, enough blabbing on my part, what do I bring you guys today? News from the watercooler? Nope, Geeky apparel/items, NO, I bring you another review! Oh, boy...  Yes, I know, sorry bare with me, I promise to make this more entertaining that the last two. So, what am I reviewing today? Aside from table top games, clothing, accessories, etc.? Well, a couple of months ago, I picked up a copy of Marvel/Star Wars: Princess Leia from my local shop.  And I am aware that this is an older comi...

Oh, the Geekiness!!

I feel like sometimes I just blink for a second, and there are even more exciting news in the world of Geekdom. A New Companion for The Doctor:  So, if you, for some miraculous reason have not heard, over the weekend BBC unveiled not only a teaser spot for the upcoming season 10 of Doctor Who, but a new companion was introduced just along with it. Yes, a NEW companion was introduced. The sky will fall, I know. (Source: metro.co.uk) So far what we know about this new companion is very little, just that her name is Bill and she will be portrayed by Pearl Mackie. What makes Bill so special is that she is a companion of color. Yes, you heard right, Bill is black. She will join the only other companion who was not white (Freema Agyeman). Many news articles have started to praise the BBC decision(with the director/producer) to add Bill into the long and treasured list of companions. From what I can tell, is that I am excited and hopeful to see more diversity on Doctor ...

I Need to Win the Lotto, ASAP.

Hello Kiddies! I hope that you guys (yes, you who took time from their busy schedule to read my shenanigans) had an awesome weekend. Or at least I'm hoping that your weekend wasn't as torturous as it would be (for those of us who STILL have work on weekends), anywhoo, so, lets get down to business! Over the years, I have had the faintest idea ::: insert sarcasm ::: that being a Geek/Nerd is not only incredfible fun, but also seriously dangerous to my wallet. Why do i say this? Because, as much as I love knowing that collectible, clothing, accessories are more and more accessible now a days, it has also started to be a bit heavier on my $$. Now, I don't go buy EVERYTHING and ANYTHING that comes out that is Nerd/Geek related, but the items that I do buy, aren't necessarily too expensive or cheap, they're just a bit too many, lol. By  all means I AM not whinning, but I do like to joke, that being a Geek/Nerd is not only NOT for the weak but for the penniless. S...

Oh, THE FEELS, THE FEELS!!

So, finally today... Wait where are my manners?! 😱 Happy Holidays to all of you kiddies!!! Hoping you got to enjoy the festivities, food and company. ⛄❄⛄❄⛄ Anyway, as I was saying, finally today we got the chance to watch STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS at our local movie theater and let me first say that my "review" will be spoiler free, for those who still have not yet had the opportunity to go see it.  ALL the excitement from my childhood came flooding back as I sat there and saw familiar faces and get to love me ones as well. Source: screenrant.com It had the perfect balance between comedic, tender, heartbreaking moments.  The ending point for this first installment was adequate with many unanswered questions, but I believe that is what the movie is aiming for.  Some of the new faces that definitely stood out for me was Rey, BB8, Finn, Kylo and Poe. The film those have a couple of mysteries that have yet not been completely mentioned not ...

PERHAPS TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO GEEK!

Hello kiddies!! No, I did not die, but it almost feels like I did. Sorry i have not been able to post anything these past two months, but for us poor mortals who need to work in order to pay bills, this season is one of the busiest, specially for those who work in retail (ahem, like i do). So, if you also work retail, or have ever been tortured to do so (at some point in your life), i  basically do not have a life. I sold my soul to the Retail God, and as of late, I've been non existant. Any ways, so today I had the energy to post, so here we go!! For those who have not noticed this year has been our year, since sci-fi, comics based, fantasy, etc genres have been dominating the big screen, and to that I say, it's about time!! So, not only has our community been anxiously waiting for The Force Awakens, but just today, Team Roddenberry released the trailer for Star Trek Beyond. And to tell you the truth, I'm pretty psyched about it! Not only are we being introduce...

The Juggernaut Awakens: Walmart vs. Target

Hello kiddies! once again, I find myself bringing you news of what's happening in the magical & fantastical land of Geekdom. As many of you know, not long ago too, I wrote that Walmart announced that it would carry the Covergirl Star Wars make up line in September, which I can safely say that I'm stil super psyched! Well, it appears that Walmart has announced Force Fridays, where they will be selling various merchandise items in the wake of 'The Force Awakens.' here is the link straight from the starwars.com page announcing Walmart's "Force Fridays" http://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-force-awakens-products-to-arrive-on-force-friday-september-4 Source: rebelscum.com. Property of Disney/LucasFilm/ Walmart/Sam Walton And apparently, Walmart is not the only one to partner up with Disney/Lucas and the upcoming franchise. Target is also getting in the fun too! http://nerdist.com/stay-on-target-for-the-star-wars-the-force-awakens-t...
