Exuding Geekiness since 1984

SAY IT ISN'T SO!! For those of us who were still hopeful that a new instalment of the Power Rangers rebooted franchise would be green lit, apparently, this will not be happening any time soon. Due to not so favorable box office outcomes in China <which apparently, the Asian countries were the saving grace for the film, since domestically it didn't do so well> and Japan, which executives were betting their money on for the film to exceed the amount expect for the possibility of having more installments.  According to the article on Screen Rant: http://screenrant.com/power-rangers-sequel-unlikely-box-office-bomb/  the film still had hope if it did well in those markets.  Trailers. TUBE The mixed review of the film also did not help with the decision from the executives, for now, shelve any other future film in the franchise. The reviews from different articles either liking or hating it, had an impact, but nothing had the biggest impact than $$...

Here we go again!! As much as I try NOT to sound whiny or have a rant in every stinkin' blog post, sometimes, I just can't help it. I embrace change when it is merited, I think that re-vitalizing certain movies or genre is awesome, specially when the original ones might need some boost or as I like to call it some "Umpf" to them. What I do have a problem is when very successfull CLASSICS that are beloved by MANY many fans get the unnecessary "Umpf" added to them. It is truly a love/hate relationship that I (maybe even many of you share) with reboots/sequels. Yes, I'm aware that it is a very cheesy and over hyped line, but since we're going into over done things, well I guess it is very appropriate. I am aware that in the past I have whined about reboots/ remakes and the like, specially concerning classics that most of us grew up with and fell in love with. But i will admit that rebooting/remaking and making it away to introduce to younger audiences some of the franchises that we enjoyed in our chilhood is not always a bad idea. For example, I just covered (last post) about the Power Rangers movie and comic book that is coming out. I think it's an incredible idea. The up and coming sequel for ID4 (Independence Day, duh) seems like a well thought out screen, story line that I'm actually psyched on about. But obviously, there are the disappointments and the reason i am cautious about remakes/reboots.
