Atomic City Comics

I'm alive!! 💃 and I hope that everyone had a good Labor Day weekend. So, during said weekend (actually, it was a four day weekend for me, I know, lucky) on Sunday, we went to inner city Philly near Queen Village to stop by one of the best and most worthwhile comic stores, Atomic City Comics.

Now, for those of you who aren't familiar, Atomic City Comics, is absolutely one of the best comic stores you can possibly visit. It looks small from the outside, and even though it can get a bit crowded, it is always in a hustle and bustle. From the get go, you are greeted with a friendly, genuine smile (Joe was working the register) and he made us feel right at home. One of the first things that he always mentioned to every single customer was, if you have questions, feel free to ask. I loved that! There are some comic book stores, where there isn't a very friendly feeling, and specially if you have a question, it can sometimes feel like, they're doing you a favor.
That is definitely not the vibe here. Joe was welcoming to EVERYONE that walked through the door. One of the firsts things you notice is, the wall of manga. They have a really big selection of different kinds of manga, newer, older, teens, kids, etc. If you're definitely into manga, you need to check out this place.

On right hand side as you walk along, there is the section for graphic novels, in the middle on the left, are the t-shirts, apparel, etc. There's also items (Funkos, etc) near the register, and the new section is around the same area.

On the other side of the store (left hand side) you'll find collectibles, the young reader comics, and along the same wall, there will be the new single issues releases. On the right hand side of the same corridor (opposite to the apparels, etc) you'll find the posters, more pricey collectibles, some arcade machines).

For having a limited space, the store is well section, organized, and you can easily find the items you are looking for. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience (this is the second time we visited) and I cannot stress enough, how much we like going there.

The customer service (by all employees) is superb, it's an awesome environment to be in. So, if you're ever in the inner city area of Philly, stop by, because they genuinely deserve your patronage.

Btw, they will be doing the Halloween ComicFest this upcoming October, so it'll be the perfect time to drop by and say 'Hi!' 😉.

Gotta Run Away Fast.

We've all seen the trailers for the upcoming release of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu  and most of us have gotten excited to see our favorite Pokemon come to life (CGI, of course) on the big screen. One of the most iconic Pokemon have been Pikachu, and what we've seen, he is stinkingly adorable in anime form or live-action. The animation for the CGI was well handled for what we've been able to gather from the trailers. digitalspy.com So, it makes sense that other production companies want to cash in the nostalgia fever and releases their own spin on classic icons of classic games. But, what in the HECK are you guys thinking at Paramount?!?! About a day ago or so, the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog movie was release, and let me tell you, Sonic looks like something that was brought from the darkest pits of hell. Seriously, what were the animators thinking?! It's not cute, nor endearing, or even worth of the namesake. Newsweek.com Whatever that was, it was

Sink your teeth into Castlevania.

It is almost February and within the time that I've been missing, there have been so many news, that it is kind of hard to talk to you guys about everything. Lately, I must admit that I've been in a weird funk of watching interesting shows, movies, that are not necessarily in everyone's radar. Yes, I could talk about the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, or anything else that has been buzzing around the internet. But lately, with all the nay-sayers, I've kinda gotten into this funk of finding lost treasure in shows that might not be well known, or given enough time of day, due to either people not knowing, or just glossing over.  One of those 'diamonds in the rough' that I recently was made aware of is 'Castlevania' on Netflix. There's only two seasons of the animated series, and I basically binged watched season 1 yesterday with the Hubby.  And seriously, if you haven't seen this animated series, it really is damned good. I Want a Refund

Hello!! O.k, so no I haven't disappeared yet again on you guys, but last week was eventful since, my In-Laws decided to come for an entire week for a much needed family vacation in my neck of the woods. It was a roller coaster, with up's & down's, but overall we all had an enjoyable experience. Except for Friday... On this day, we decided as a family to finally go see Avengers: Endgame  in theaters. So, my husband, along with my MIL, FIL & daughter (and I of course) headed to the movies. In advance, we reserved our tickets, with reserved seating (it was an IMAX theater) and off we went. We decided that we would do one of the last showings just because we already knew that it was a 3 hour long movie, so, we were o.k with that. The movie theater was not full (due to maybe time, etc). So, we went up, took our seats and prepared to be wowed. Maria Rivas/Instagram Nope, we got annoyed. We had noticed that in our same row, there was another small group of
