Hello kiddies, it is I once again!!
So, let's start!
Proceed with Caution:
I seriously try not to sound like an old grump when I'm writing my posts, but sometimes people on the internet just makes you want to endlessly yell at your screen.
Like so many of us, yesterday we were treated to the release of the 2nd trailer for 'Civil War,' and yes, it's EPIC! (actually epic does not begin to describe it, but will do).
Anywhoo, so after watching the trailer, I did the worst possible thing I could do, I ventured into the comments section. Yes, I know it's my own fault!
I will not spoil the trailer (in case any of you have not yet seen it) but there's a huge key player at almost the end of it.
Well, many people startedc to comment and basically assume that, what happened in 'Civil War' (comic) will happen in the cinematic MCU.
People, STOP RIGHT THERE!!!
Yes, if you're one of those, please stop!
Marvel has stated that the cinematic MCU is independent from the comics.
Yes, they take inspiration from the storylines, but that doesn't mean they have to follow them panel per panel.
In my humble opinion, I think it is brilliant decision because they can create a diverse MCU and the fans get a "new" or different take on the stories and it is also "spoiler free," in a way, because NO ONE knows how the movies will turn out. Which means that fans go in on the same level, whether you read the comics or not.
But for those who already have knowledge (from the comics), stop assuming and writing it in the comments. Writing it doesn't make you seem knowledgeable or 'edgy' it only makes you look like a complete d-bag.
And before you start bashing me, I'VE read the comic, so yes, I KNOW what happens, but that doesn't give me the right to talk about it to someone who just likes watching the cinematic MCU and has no knowledge about the MCU comics. This doesn't make me better, I'll respect the fact that other people either have not had the opportunity to read it or are simply just not interested.
Just, go buy your ticket(s) and enjoy the film!
If, after the movie you want to discuss it amongst those who already have seen it, then by all means do so, express yourself!
So, I leave you with the trailer, enjoy! (and if you do proceed to the comments sections, BEWARE!!!)

Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Embarrassments?
BEFORE you murder me, let me explain the title!
I'm sure many of us are also anxiously awaiting the release of a "tiny" film called Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice to hit theaters as well.
Which is also awesome and we've been (thankfully) endlessly bombarded by promos, posters], fan-art, etc.
And of course, major national networks and their shows have also helped with the hype for the upcoming release.
BUT (yes, there is a but to this, unfortunately) today I was able to catch a snipet on 'The Real' Talk Show, which I sometimes watch (it's my guilty pleasure, sort of speak, yes, I know, for shame!) that two of the co-hosts were wearing Batman and Superman onesies.
Of course, I became immediately delighted (this show by no means is geared towards 'Geeks' or either the hosts themselves are 'Geeks') because on national t.v. and in all places a show that is geared towards women, two co-hosts were wearing "Geek" apparel.
Oh boy, was I quickly let down, so the two co-hosts begin to talk about what they like about both super heroes. I was aware I was not going to hear an in-depth response, but I was hoping for something at least sensible/smart.
NOPE.
One host said that they liked Batman because he had a car and another quipped that they didn't like Superman because he didn't have a car.
The host that was dressed in the Superman onesie quipped that he could fly, which made it better.
Yes, that statement isn' completely dumb, but throughout the entire 'debate' (if it can be called that) it was painfully obvious that none of the hosts at the table where talking about or genuinely interested.
Now here is my problem, it is NOT tht non-Geeks were talking about the movie, or that they were women doing their jobs and trying to bring hype to the release or trying to get the audience interested, it is that it was so painfully clear that they themselves were not interested in the topic and miserably failing.
Now before you go off on me, they should not be faulted for personally not being interested in the film, it is their job and I get that.
But, the way they came off, trying to act 'genuinely' interested was hard to watch.
Why? because women in our community hve a hard enough time being taken seriously by our male counterparts. We are seen as these weirdos by non-Geek women as well, as if were deficient or not 'girly' enough as well.
We have it hard, period.
How many times are we portrayed as not kowing anything or less about anything that has to do with comics, movies, trivia, art, etc.?
When the reality is so different. We read comics, we can draw and illustrate, we do know our fandoms (and sometimes, we're more knowledgeable than the men). And we're not just soley interested because of our boyfriends, husbands, brother, etc.
Feeding this stereotype not only does a de-service to women who are truly 'Geeks' but just in general to our community.
I understand what ''The Real" tried to do, and I understand their intentions, but for the next time, a clip and a classy mention of the upcoming release date would have been a better service than having these women (who tried) go through a painful segment trying to convince themselves and the audience that they are interested in the movie.
Fox, please, NO.
Women in the community struggle enough with being labeled with an un-equal gender bias, please don't add to it.
Women who are not part of the community, it's ok that you don't like comics, 'Geek' things, but also please don't try to pretend you do just because it's a fad or because it is what's "in" or for your signficant other. By doing this, you're hurting us more by continuing the vicious cycle of not being taken seriously enough because we're not "REAL GEEKS."
I leave you with the clip and feel free to let me know if you agree/or disagree:
