To Reboot or not to Reboot, that is the question.

Yes, I'm aware that it is a very cheesy and over hyped line, but since we're going into over done things, well I guess it is very appropriate.

I am aware that in the past I have whined about reboots/ remakes and the like, specially concerning classics that most of us grew up with and fell in love with.

But i will admit that rebooting/remaking and making it away to introduce to younger audiences some of the franchises that we enjoyed in our chilhood is not always a bad idea.

For example, I just covered (last post) about the Power Rangers movie and comic book that is coming out. I think it's an incredible idea. The up and coming sequel for ID4 (Independence Day, duh) seems like a well thought out screen, story line that I'm actually psyched on about.

But obviously, there are the disappointments and the reason i am cautious about remakes/reboots. The new TMNT, was horrendous, not to mention Transformers franchise (except for the first), it's unbearalbe. And nost importantly of all suaddens me because both franchises deserve better. Better storylines, actors, graphics, etc.

This is why I'm still sticking to what I have stated before, lets tell the studios/production companies that they need to look more deeply to untapped talent. Newer writers, up and coming directors, actors, that will give us diverse and newer stories and LEAVE the classics alone!!!

Chim-chimney, chim-chimney DON'T!
With that being said, there are movies that SHOULD NEVER EVER be remade/re-casted because they are TIMELESS classics, and trying tampering with them is a punishable offense to the GODS!!! (Ok, maybe it isn't as drastic, but you get the point)

One of those timeless classics that should never be touched is Disney's Mary Poppins, but sadly apparently it is actually being looked at to have a future installment of this much beloved classic.

Yes, you read right, Disney is thinking of making a sequel... Oy!

And they are considering Emily Blunt to play Mary Poppins. Don't get me wrong, I think she is a superb actress, but who can ever replace the Practically-Perfect in Everyway, Julie Andrews?!

Hello, it's JULIE ANDREWS!! The woman who sang into our hearts with a 'Spoonful of Sugar.' Ugh, I'm outraged that they would consider replacing her! Not to mention DIck Van Dyke as Bert, seriously Disney?!

Ok, well it looks like I'm not the only one reeling from this news because it has been a division of those who would like to see a next installment of this movie and those (sane) ones who want to leave it alone.

So, where do you guys stand on this? And also overall on reboots/remakes, are you in favor or nay?

Here is the article:

And while we are on the subject of reboots/remakes, GameSpot had a very interesting article that will delight many.

Yes, it's a reboot of an older PC game, but in this case, reboots/remakes don't bother me as much with this genre (or Broadway musicals. surprisingly), but apparently there will be a new Master of Orion, with quality graphics, storylines and to top it off they have an all star voice over cast!

None other than Mark Hamill (yes, Luke Skywalker) himself will be voicing one of the characters. Alan Tudyk and MIchael Dorn are also involved. So, I'm super psyched about this project!

And from the video clip that I saw, the game is taking a new form and they are bringing it up to date.

Gotta Run Away Fast.

We've all seen the trailers for the upcoming release of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu  and most of us have gotten excited to see our favorite Pokemon come to life (CGI, of course) on the big screen. One of the most iconic Pokemon have been Pikachu, and what we've seen, he is stinkingly adorable in anime form or live-action. The animation for the CGI was well handled for what we've been able to gather from the trailers. digitalspy.com So, it makes sense that other production companies want to cash in the nostalgia fever and releases their own spin on classic icons of classic games. But, what in the HECK are you guys thinking at Paramount?!?! About a day ago or so, the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog movie was release, and let me tell you, Sonic looks like something that was brought from the darkest pits of hell. Seriously, what were the animators thinking?! It's not cute, nor endearing, or even worth of the namesake. Newsweek.com Whatever that was, it was...

Sink your teeth into Castlevania.

It is almost February and within the time that I've been missing, there have been so many news, that it is kind of hard to talk to you guys about everything. Lately, I must admit that I've been in a weird funk of watching interesting shows, movies, that are not necessarily in everyone's radar. Yes, I could talk about the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, or anything else that has been buzzing around the internet. But lately, with all the nay-sayers, I've kinda gotten into this funk of finding lost treasure in shows that might not be well known, or given enough time of day, due to either people not knowing, or just glossing over.  One of those 'diamonds in the rough' that I recently was made aware of is 'Castlevania' on Netflix. There's only two seasons of the animated series, and I basically binged watched season 1 yesterday with the Hubby.  And seriously, if you haven't seen this animated series, it really is damned good. (See w...

Not your Mother's She-Ra.

On November 13, Netflix finally premiered 'She-Ra & The Princesses of Power.' Not sure if it was long awaited (for other people, I was absolutely waiting for this!)  and even before it was released it was met with a bit of controversy due to the new styling. Well, my daughter and I sat to binge watched season 1 and let me tell you, it was absolutely perfectly well balanced. For those of us old enough to remember the original series, there are tons of references to characters, events, etc. It doesn't dwell too much into, but it gives a respectful nod to the original series. It isn't a carbon copy of the 80's She-ra and it isn't completely different (I'm assuming this was done for the 'nay-sayers.').  It is very well balanced with new elements and nostalgia inducing references. imdb.com Character development is also well done, I absolutely love the fact that Cattra was given a much rounder, complex backstory in this rebo...
