I'M BACK, yes my long absence is inexcusable but my tablet got literally hijacked by a 9 year old all summer long, so I really didn't have any other means to write.
Anywhoo, let's start!!
OMFG, I'm sure most of you by now have seen the season finale for Game of Thrones season 7, right?! If not, this is your only warning, spoilers (or potential spoilers ahead).
As many of you know there was a lot of game changers in last night's episode, and to be honest, it's really one of the best episodes this season.
Actually, I am really happy about this season, it really up the ante on moving the story along, pace and character development.
Game changing events/revelations:
Most of the audience and the readers knew, or at least we had a pretty good idea (for a while now) of Jon Snow's parentage. And last night, it was finally confirmed via Bran and Sam that indeed, Jon Snow or shall we say, Aegon Targaryen IS the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna.
This comes to no surprise for anyone, but it was actually a really epic moment in which the collective audience was just like "YES, WE KNEW IT!!".
What is a big game changer is that as Bran was narrating, Jon and Dany were getting their freak on. <honestly, we shouldn't be shocked by this, since we've grown accustomed to the Lannisters getting jiggy wit' it, am I right?!>
First, just the revelation that Jon is the TRUE and rightful heir of the Iron Throne, changes the game not only for Dany, but for Cersei as well, Jon has always been getting screwed (in good and bad ways) and it's almost like he has just been thrust upon responsibilities that quite frankly, he really doesn't want. First he was thrust upon the whole taking the Black thing, becoming Lord Commander and recently, King in the North. And all poor Jon has been able to do is, shrug and take it as it comes.
So, if he is indeed the heir, will he accept this new responsibility (assuming, he gets to find out) or will he just say, "Fuck it, let Dany have it".
Will Dany even accept another Targaryen relative co-ruling with her? Or will she see this as a cunning way for Jon to usurp the throne she's worked for? Will this sour their lustful/sexual whatever it is relationship that they have going on now? Or will it help cement not only their relationship as lovers but as family as well? So far Dany, has been the "last Targaryen" how will she respond knowing that this is not true at all.
Cersei is another loose cannon. We all know by now that she is bat-shit crazy. Seriously. Even her twin, Jaime has had gotten enough of her shenanigans. So, will Cersei try to use this revelation (if it is revealed to her somehow) to pivot Dany and Jon against each other?
So, yes this is a game changer, that will have to be answered in season 8.
Talking about Cersei, we learned that she had employed the help of The Golden Company in order to take advantage that both Dany and Jon will be fighting the white walkers and take care of her interests. For audience only viewers, the name The Golden Company is a game changer, due to the fact that they are being introduced this late in the game. But for book readers, they are not. So, what's so special about the Golden Company? They're an army of mercenaries who are supposed to be uber skilled, even more so than the Unsullied and Dothraki combined. By introducing them, it changes the possible outcome for the Lannister army.
This better their chances in winning the war against both Dany and Jon. So, will Jon and Dany's forces combined (after the war with the white walkers) be enough to win against Cersei at the end?
Now, here's the biggest game changer, The Night King just took down part of the wall in the North with the help of an undead Viserion. His army just made it through the other side, so, the question is will Dany and Jon's armies will be enough to stop all those white walkers and their Night King? Will the dragons survive against an undead Viserion? HOW THE HECK DO YOU KILL AN UNDEAD DRAGON?! Can he be killed? Will it be too late for Cersei to re-evaluate her position on the war against the white walkers and join forces? All these questions need answers, and obviously by the fact that the wall has been taken down, it changes everything.
There are also a couple of more loose ends, like will Theon be successful in freeing Yara (if she is still even alive), will the Hound ever fight Ser Gregor? What is Ser Gregor, will we ever know? What will happen to Bran and the Stark women?
So many questions that need answers and we have to wait until 2019 to find out!
Highlights:
Let's just get this out of the way, LITTLEFINGER IS DEAD!!! Omg, I seriously loved the way both Sansa and Arya played him at his own twisted game. Seriously, Sansa redeemed herself a bit in my eyes last night. I just loved his expression throughout the entire scene:
<Littlefinger looking all smug while Sansa is stating the charges she is "accusing" Arya for>
<all of the sudden, Littlefinger hears his name, and hears his name>
Littlefinger: HUH? WHAT? UM? HOLY SHIT!!
The epic-ness of the entire scene is just too good not to replay OVER and over, lol.
Another highlight is finally getting to see Rhaegar and Lyanna getting married and seeing how the sequence of the Tower of Joy fits in with the entire story.
Seeing Jaime Lannister finally listen to reason and walk out on Cersei was also epic, but not as epic as Tyrion and Cersei discussing with each other about having a truce for the sake of the realm. That was incredible acting from both Lena Heady and Peter Dinklage.
If I forgot any other highlight/game changing moment, I am sorry, I'm running super low on energy and sleep.
Honestly, the way the season ended is absolutely perfect.
If you have any comments, input on this season or the finale, let me know in the comment section below!!
