So Much More than a Princess: A Book Review

As of late (2016 & this year) it seems a lot of our beloved actors/actresses have been departing us too soon, and to say the least, Carrie Fisher (and her Mom) was definitely one of the loss that was truly felt around the globe.

Whether you know her as 'Princess Leia' or from her books, Carrie touched many.

She was witty, voracious, intelligent, witty, etc.

Her last book " The Princess Diarist" is all of that and more.

I'm sure so many of us, while she was promoting it, had heard of it due to the fact that she reveals that she had that affair with the one and only Han Solo (Harrison Ford).

Obviously, the media picked this up due to the fact that this secret had been kept for such a long time, but this book reveals so much more, a different side to Carrie.

If you haven't picked up a copy, do yourself a favor and purchase it, because it is beyond hilarious, and so Carrie.

At first, the idea of having a book with pages of a journal that she kept seems campy, especially when it talks so much about her affair.

I got the opportunity to read it and this book IS intimate, but not the way one would think. It is filled with pages of Carrie's fears, insecurities and hopes. Something that connects with her reader, because we've all been angsty teenagers at some point. She pours her idealistic, witty sarcasm and vulnerability as a person, not just a "celebrity."

Her entries reflect that she was always honest with herself and knew that despite her shortcomings and insecurities, she was a strong woman, who hadn't found herself, just yet, but she had an idea of WHO she would like to become.

She longs to be many things, but above all she yearns to be noticed. Genuinely loved for who she is and not for who we think "Carrie Fisher" was.

While reading this book, I felt her warmth and her personality radiating through the pages.  She has always had a wonderful ability to put her thoughts and feelings in writing, and this book is no exception. Within her journal entries, there are some short poems, that reflect her longing, and her inner struggles (at the time). This is a perfect book to have in your personal library as a wonderful tribute and keepsake of our beloved Princess from 'Far Far Away...'

This is absolutely a joy to read, and is heart-wrenching to think that she is no longer with us.

Gotta Run Away Fast.

We've all seen the trailers for the upcoming release of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu  and most of us have gotten excited to see our favorite Pokemon come to life (CGI, of course) on the big screen. One of the most iconic Pokemon have been Pikachu, and what we've seen, he is stinkingly adorable in anime form or live-action. The animation for the CGI was well handled for what we've been able to gather from the trailers. digitalspy.com So, it makes sense that other production companies want to cash in the nostalgia fever and releases their own spin on classic icons of classic games. But, what in the HECK are you guys thinking at Paramount?!?! About a day ago or so, the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog movie was release, and let me tell you, Sonic looks like something that was brought from the darkest pits of hell. Seriously, what were the animators thinking?! It's not cute, nor endearing, or even worth of the namesake. Newsweek.com Whatever that was, it was...

I Want a Refund

Hello!! O.k, so no I haven't disappeared yet again on you guys, but last week was eventful since, my In-Laws decided to come for an entire week for a much needed family vacation in my neck of the woods. It was a roller coaster, with up's & down's, but overall we all had an enjoyable experience. Except for Friday... On this day, we decided as a family to finally go see Avengers: Endgame  in theaters. So, my husband, along with my MIL, FIL & daughter (and I of course) headed to the movies. In advance, we reserved our tickets, with reserved seating (it was an IMAX theater) and off we went. We decided that we would do one of the last showings just because we already knew that it was a 3 hour long movie, so, we were o.k with that. The movie theater was not full (due to maybe time, etc). So, we went up, took our seats and prepared to be wowed. Maria Rivas/Instagram Nope, we got annoyed. We had noticed that in our same row, there was another small group of ...

Sink your teeth into Castlevania.

It is almost February and within the time that I've been missing, there have been so many news, that it is kind of hard to talk to you guys about everything. Lately, I must admit that I've been in a weird funk of watching interesting shows, movies, that are not necessarily in everyone's radar. Yes, I could talk about the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, or anything else that has been buzzing around the internet. But lately, with all the nay-sayers, I've kinda gotten into this funk of finding lost treasure in shows that might not be well known, or given enough time of day, due to either people not knowing, or just glossing over.  One of those 'diamonds in the rough' that I recently was made aware of is 'Castlevania' on Netflix. There's only two seasons of the animated series, and I basically binged watched season 1 yesterday with the Hubby.  And seriously, if you haven't seen this animated series, it really is damned good. (See w...
