The Nostalgia Capitalism... and why Robert Zemeckis is my new Hero!

Hewoh my lovelies! Ok, well, as many of you may know just recently most of the world celebrated the release of Back to the Future in theaters back in the hayday (I want to say, 1985), but anyways. just to make ya feel old!!

Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale put their feet down on Hollywood!

Any who, so, recently (and of course various news sources reported this) Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale (the geniuses responsible for this classic) were recently asked if they would ever consider a 'remake' of this iconic film, which they both said a resounding 'N....O!!'

And for that I'm ever thankful for them!!

Finally, two people have the guts to say to Hollywood and their 'remakes, late sequels' NO!

Seriously, I find it a bit disturbing, that yes, it's nice to reminisce of yester years blockbusters, and the movies that basically made up our childhoods (80s and 90s kids, and NO, you are not a 90s kid if you were born in 1999, don't kid yourself!).

I honestly feel that Hollywood has run out of creative films and have done the most lazy thing of all, remake, perfectly good movies (to begin with) and just added CGI stuff and crummy actors.

Ugh, seriously Hollywood?!

I specially cringe when they take a classic nostalgic film and just remake them for the sake of knowing that this film had to begin with a strong fan base and just remaking it for a cheap buck or two (well, not precisely a buck or two... but you get my point).

I feel like it is a slap in the face for ALL those people (directors, staff, stunt-doubles, sound effects, extras) who worked hard on the ORIGINAL movies and made a hit, and here comes the Hollywood machine and cashes in by adding too much CGI effects and killing the magic of the original film.

And yes, I will admit, I have and (plan no to) go see Jurassic World, and any "remade" film or belated "sequel" to any of my favorite childhood movies!

I like the "oldies" as they are. With the technical mistakes, or corny 90s effects, I still love them, and they hold a very special part of my childhood experience.

So, I give a standing ovation to Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale for putting their foot down!

So, some of you may wonder "why not?"

Well, for me Hollywood is not looking hard enough for newer talent, scripts, writers, actors, etc.

Instead of making every sci-fi/action/adventure film starring Chris Pratt (no offense to Pratt) how about giving a chance to an unknown actor? (Hello, Harrison Ford was pretty unknown back in the hey-day) and just look else where for other talented unknown scripts and screen writers, instead of using ones who have already established themselves. Who knows, we may get different and more interesting films.

Independent films, actors could use the boost, don't you think Hollywood?

I loved 'The Theory of Everything' and ' The Imitation Game' yes, they were based on real life individuals who contributed greatly in desperate times, but telling their stories and their accomplishments, for me, at least, is what I want to go see movies. I want that old Hollywood where stories, whether fiction or based on real people/events were on screen. Films with substance and specially made by up and coming talents.

And I will clarify, this is NOT  a rant, it is just my own personal thoughts on what I think is missing from current films.

Gotta Run Away Fast.

We've all seen the trailers for the upcoming release of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu  and most of us have gotten excited to see our favorite Pokemon come to life (CGI, of course) on the big screen. One of the most iconic Pokemon have been Pikachu, and what we've seen, he is stinkingly adorable in anime form or live-action. The animation for the CGI was well handled for what we've been able to gather from the trailers. digitalspy.com So, it makes sense that other production companies want to cash in the nostalgia fever and releases their own spin on classic icons of classic games. But, what in the HECK are you guys thinking at Paramount?!?! About a day ago or so, the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog movie was release, and let me tell you, Sonic looks like something that was brought from the darkest pits of hell. Seriously, what were the animators thinking?! It's not cute, nor endearing, or even worth of the namesake. Newsweek.com Whatever that was, it was

Sink your teeth into Castlevania.

It is almost February and within the time that I've been missing, there have been so many news, that it is kind of hard to talk to you guys about everything. Lately, I must admit that I've been in a weird funk of watching interesting shows, movies, that are not necessarily in everyone's radar. Yes, I could talk about the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, or anything else that has been buzzing around the internet. But lately, with all the nay-sayers, I've kinda gotten into this funk of finding lost treasure in shows that might not be well known, or given enough time of day, due to either people not knowing, or just glossing over.  One of those 'diamonds in the rough' that I recently was made aware of is 'Castlevania' on Netflix. There's only two seasons of the animated series, and I basically binged watched season 1 yesterday with the Hubby.  And seriously, if you haven't seen this animated series, it really is damned good. I Want a Refund

Hello!! O.k, so no I haven't disappeared yet again on you guys, but last week was eventful since, my In-Laws decided to come for an entire week for a much needed family vacation in my neck of the woods. It was a roller coaster, with up's & down's, but overall we all had an enjoyable experience. Except for Friday... On this day, we decided as a family to finally go see Avengers: Endgame  in theaters. So, my husband, along with my MIL, FIL & daughter (and I of course) headed to the movies. In advance, we reserved our tickets, with reserved seating (it was an IMAX theater) and off we went. We decided that we would do one of the last showings just because we already knew that it was a 3 hour long movie, so, we were o.k with that. The movie theater was not full (due to maybe time, etc). So, we went up, took our seats and prepared to be wowed. Maria Rivas/Instagram Nope, we got annoyed. We had noticed that in our same row, there was another small group of
